    This is a nice production in local langauges with sub-titles (it makes the film more believeable and therefore enjoyable) with a great storyline and some fine acting. I was particularly interested to note that:
    1. The German scientists were working on the theory of nuclear fission in 1933.
    2. The discovery of heavy water (which is needed to cool the nuclear process) was discovered by accident at the Norwegian hydro plant by a scientist who boiled water (which has been extracted from an ammonia making process) for a cup of tea, and found that it boiled at a higher temperature than normal water.
    3. The race for the secrets and materials for making the atomic bomb was the context for the Battle of Narvik and the loss of ships in that disaster.

    This summary was found on the web.

    A Norwegian-Danish-British co-production, the World War 2 drama series The Saboteurs (formerly known as Heavy Water War) premieres on More4 on Friday 19 June at 9pm.

    The six episode series was penned by Petter S. Rosenlund. Directed by Per-Olav Sørensen. Espen Kloumann Høiner, Dennis Storhøi, Christoph Bach and Anna Friel.

    Plot synopsis;
    Heavy Water War tells the story of the Nazi’s efforts to develop an atomic bomb and the Allies ‘desperate struggle to prevent it. Opening in 1933 and closing when the United States dropped their bomb on Hiroshima in 1945, the series charts the mission to stop the Nazi’s, including a daring mission by Norwegian saboteurs to blow up the heavy water factory in the mountains of Norway in 1943.

    Produced for public broadcaster NRK and is a co-production between A Filmkameratene, Sebasto Film and Headline Pictures.
