    What we use to do in the old days was trace the major outlines of the original image on to a piece of clear acetate and overlay it the the large viewfinder of the medium or large cameras we used. That could be used to line up the new shot.

    I guess you could do the same using the LCD screen on the back of most digital cameras. Although it would a nice feature if digital cameras could load a stored image onto the LCD screen and then mix it with the current scene.
