thomas keeling stubbs H.L.I 1940 2ND BATT

    Hi everyone,
    just starting out research on my grandad , he was a survivor who got injured early on, i have a few details and if anyone can shed some light on him or anything related I'd be most grateful.

    came from Butterton in the Staffordshire Moorlands,

    Surname: Stubbs
    Date of Action: 18/06/1940
    Fate: Wounded
    Incident Details: Reported To War Office Casualty Section for the 24 hours ended at 09.00
    Incident Date: 25/07/1940
    Information: Casualty List No. 264.
    Rank: Pioneer
    Service Number: 3310019
    Duty Location: Egypt
    Service: British Army
    Regiment: Highland Light Infantry
    Battalion: 2nd Battalion

    thanks for the reply.
    yes , hes in my tree but unfortunatley very little is known by anyone, nobody knows who his dad is either which is quite bugging.
    My dad and aunty dont know much either.
    Im finding it hard at the moment to find anything new about him, I thought maybe finding his army number and regiment would make life easier even though he wasnt in service long.
    Maybe his service records will have more details ?

    Re your tree, thats why I asked as I did not want to post info you already know/have.

    His service records are the place to start, they may include info on his next of kin, so his father and/or mother may be mentioned. It will also tell you where and when he went and with who. From that you can (hopefully) obtain the War Diaries to provide you with more details. Several members on the forum provide a copying service from The National Archives as they are regulars there, if you cannot make it yourself.
