I am wondering if the main defensive line around Tobruk had any above ground pillboxes/bunkers. I have read many discussion that mention and show trenches and below ground positions. Any thoughts or references? Thank you. Mick
American Desert Rat there were apparently NO pillbox or above ground defences for Tobruk as the defence consisted of allowing the Africa Corps Armour to penetrate the Infantry lines and then attack their infantry leaving the Armour exposed to the 25 pounders behind our Infantry - thus upsetting Rommel's Blitzkrieg - it worked until June '42..then we let go… Cheers
Thank you Tom. I assumed as much with all the reading I have done but was just curious. Would make sense. Mick
