Deacs Well i am from Cumbria.

Such sad news, probably like a lot of members Tom was the first person to help and give me advice when I first joined the forum.

There is little more I can add, beyond an expression of sadness and condolences to Tom's family. Another voice of experience falls silent and passes into history; thank heavens we have his contributions here.

Jonathan Ball It's a way of life.

    Duty done, Tom. RIP

As Lesley will attest, I used to help her (in a very small way) send the odd DVD over to Tom from programmes aired on British TV that he couldn't see. A few days later I'd get the usual forthright, politically incorrect and opinionated missive back via email from TC that you'd expect. I might not have agreed with everything they contained but it always made me smile to see them ping up in the inbox.

A fitting tribute might be to somehow add his name to the Italy sub-forum? Just a thought.

RIP Tom Canning and my sincere condolences to his Family and Friends

Although a relative newcomer to this site I wholeheartedly endorse the tributes made by more long serving members. He will be sadly missed by many but aleast we have a permanent record of some of his wartime experiences on this site.
