Tom Payne, 6 RWF - the Classic WWII Tommy -- Did he survive the war?

    Does anyone know what became of the man shown in the photographs? Did he survive the war and come home to his little girl?


    Fusilier Tom Payne, 11th Platoon, 'B' Company, 6th Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, 12 August 1944.

    He survived but was wounded

    Notice the date of the photo is the same as the wounding

    Thanks for this, great stuff. So glad to know he survived, the extended series of photographs show his photographs of his daughter and, IIRC, a letter from her. Seems a bit odd that he was wounded on the same day he was getting recorded for posterity.
