When my dad was stationed at Torshavn the troops used to frequent a café in the town which was run by a woman. One day he said that a German aircraft was circling over the town, and the woman ran out into the street and gave a Heil Hitler salute. The soldiers got rather upset about this and smashed up her café and left.He never said which regiment they were from.I wonder if our member who lives there has heard about the incident.

Bob Wilton - my grandfather was in the South Staffordshire Regiment at the same time. According to his records he was in the Faroes from August 1943 - March 1944 and his name was Denis Akers. Unfortunately he was killed in Normandy in July 1944 so we never got to meet him. Would your Dad have any photos or information about him? Thank you.
