    Good Afternoon,

On a recent search for EOHO project for CWGC at my local cemetery at Bothwell Park in Lanarkshire I came across a grave stone that is not on the CWGC page. The stone records that Tpr. James Wallace T.C died in a military hospital on the 26th of March 1947 aged 19. I cannot find any death record on Scotland’s People so I presume he died out with Scotland. He meets the criteria to be remembered by CWGC and I would like to see if I can have this corrected but I am struggling to find any information about him. I have attached a picture. If anyone can assist it would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Stuart

First port of call is his death cert .

Could be he was discharged from service before his death

I am sure forum members will add more

Thanks everyone for the responses. I will look at the sources and forward them to CWGC via email to see if they can assist and have James added to the CWGC website.

I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to respond and will keep you posted with the outcome.

You will get loads of info & help from the In From The Cold Project. They helped me with & submitted on my behalf the case for a WW1 soldier who was not listed by the CWGC.

Is it just a case of messaging them up and waiting for a response?

Hi Clive I have been looking online for this but unfortunately nothing. Finding my past has a page from Richmond District Volume 1B page 1044 however that is all it says. No further detail other than Name, age, D.O.B and D.O.D. Nothing on Scotlands people either with regards to Wills.

These are the details of his death registration (from post 2)
    WALLACE, JAMES WELSH
    Age 19
    GRO Reference:
    1947 March Quarter
RICHMOND (this is Richmond in Yorkshire)
    Volume 01B
    Page 1044

The volume and page are references of where someone can find it in the Register of Deaths in Richmond or central records and this is where you can fill in those details for his death cert - but you will need a debit or credit card
Research your family history using the General Register Office

Once you have the death cert & presuming it shows he is a serving soldier with service number etc, you could then ask ITFC the quick question wether that is enough evidence either for you to go direct to CWGC or for them to on your behalf. Or of course ask ITFC while waiting for the cert. You may get the info quicker from ITFC than CWGC.

I believe if you want the plot number & cemetery recorded at CWGC you may need to supply a copy of the page from the burial register.

    Hi all

Certificate arrived this morning. I think this is a positive and good evidence here to suggest he was still in service. Let me know what you think.

Thats good proof that he was in the R.A.C. when he died, and civilian occupation had been labourer.

That is good news. I have forwarded it to CWGC. Surely enough evidence between the cert, stone and newspaper article?

I believe only official docs will do it, so the death cert is the basic. Don't be surprised if for burial place to be recorded needs copy of the page from the cemetery register

Do you think I should contact the council who maintain the cemetery just now to see if I can get a copy of this?

Fairly sure CWGC will want this & start first with the council, but if it costs & before spending out on it, maybe check with ITFC. I just followed their advice for the WW1 man, although admittedly more complicated as he died after discharge.

The reasoning for the burial register page is I think that some soldiers are commemerated on their family headstones, but buried elsewhere.

That is exactly what I was thinking mate. I will give them a phone. So man family inscriptions on stones as you know.
