    Hi all

I received this response from CWGC

    Dear Mr Jack

Thank you for your email and attachments in respect of Trooper James Welsh Wallace, 14181865. Please accept my apologies for the delay in reply.

As you have stated, there is no entry for this casualty in our records. The evidence suggests that he should be commemorated as he died within the Second World War qualifying dates while still in service, however it appears that his details were never passed to us by the service authorities after the war, possibly due to an error.

I am pleased to confirm, therefore, that we are able to progress this as a non commemoration - the details have been logged in our case tracking system with the following reference:

ARMY 10939 – James Welsh Wallace

The information you have provided will be submitted, in due course, to the appropriate service authority for further assessment and adjudication. Unfortunately, we are experiencing very long delays (currently around 18-24 months) with the resolution of Army cases as the adjudicator is working through a significant backlog at the moment, each of which must be individually reviewed and possibly researched further before a decision can be made. I am therefore unable to give a more accurate timescale for completion at this stage but will of course let you know as and when there are any updates on progress.

Once we have the adjudication, I will let you know. If accepted, he will be added to our records and arrangements will then be made to investigate his grave in Bothwell Park Cemetery.
Thank you again for bringing Tooper Wallace to our attention and if you have any further questions regarding this case or the commemoration process please do not hesitate to get back to me.

    Kind regards,
