My 95 year old father was in RAMC and had various postings in France Belgium and Germany during the latter part of the war. Is there any way of tracking where and when he was in these places. He’s now in a nursing home and rarely talked of his war experiences. Thank you.

The only place to really start to follow his footsteps is to obtain his service records and they can only be found via the forms in this link Request records of deceased service personnel they are taking about 2 months to return them
These records will tell you which units he was in , when and where. When you have this there are ways forward to find out more details.

If you wish to let us know his name, rank etc we may be able to start the ball rolling in general terms - but service records are imperative to avoid blind alleys etc

I have a copy of "Medical Officers in the British Army 1660 - 1960" (Sir Robert Drew), which gives career records of the men listed. But I would need a name.....

Thank you. My father is still alive so his records won’t be available yet.

Thank you to those who have replied. I’m still trying to figure out how replying to individuals actually works!
My father is Robert C H Easson. I think he achieved rank of corporal.
I will try the link offered as a source of records of servicemen still living.
    Thank again.

Are you sure? The web page specifically states "You can apply for your own records if you are, or have been, a member of the armed forces, for example the Royal Navy (including Royal Marines), British Army or Royal Air Force."

Yes I’ve seen that link thanks. I am Power of Attorney so I’ll print off the form and get a copy of the POA sent off with it. Thank you.

PDE, Have you had a look for old photos, papers, medals, badges etc.Men often kept items, which can help.If people move around a lot, things do get thrown away but if more settled, it's worth checking personal effects.
