A friend did a beaches tour a couple of years ago and said the wreck is still visible and was pointed out by the tour guide.I have not seen it myself

Information I have as at 06/08/2007

Stands proud, orientation NW-SE. At low tide, the aft part and a piece of a mast are visible. The front part was recovered and towed back to England.

    Cheers

The 43rd Recce war diaries are held by the Tank Museum at Bovington, Dorset. You can arrange visit to see them Welcome to the Tank Museum - Home of the Tank - Archive & Reference Library. I noticed that only the more recent have been typed up but they do go back to 1942 so include all sorts of training information. There are also some photos, articles, etc. including an Officers list for 30th November 1942.

Extracts/summaries from the diaries are included in my blog from 70 years ago - see 43rd Recce - Chotie Darling for July 1942 up to Nov (and will continue to March 1943).

    Best wishes

    Jolly Molly,

12 Troop was the Assault Troop for C Squadron. They operated from Halftracks. I have known several members of the troop including the Troop Leader (Captain George Wood, M.C.), unfortunately no longer with us. The 43rd Recce OCA is in limbo at the moment, so I will have to dig about to see if I can put your in contact with any of them. Trooper Ray Surrey springs to mind, although I may be mistaken.
I have some photos of the 43rd Recce on my website at Index including a photo of C Squadron's final parade at Hermannsburg showing 12 Troop lined up the back.
I will have a dig around and see if I can find more.

    Regards,

    Les.
