This is my Uncle Tom Paxton (b. 1912 in Richmond, North Yorks) and I'm trying to determine who he is serving with in this photo. I guess it must be around the outbreak of WW2 (possibly earlier?).

Any information about his rank, regiment etc, that can be gleaned from the picture would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Looks to be 16th. 9th or 19th Lancers Trooper with one good conduct chevron, with a trade badge above. The length of the 'ribbon' would seem to indicate Lancers and points to 9th.

Thanks Wills - it definately needed a fresh pair of eyes - I think you could be right - Its actually the same Regiment as my Grandad (as featured in my avatar picture!).

    (_8^(|) .... Doh !!

The red lanyard on right shoulder indicates 9th Lancers as does the cap badge..now 9/12th Lancers

It is also noticable that the lanyard is on the left on the photograph yet on the avatar - right. Why the change over?
