Hi, attached is a copy of who I hope is my J E Blythe, however family history says that it relates to a guy in a RAF uniform, can anyone assist me with this is he Army or Raf, his cap badge is visable but not clearly Regards Aldersdale

Can I be the fourth - and odd man out - it could be the General Service Badge issued to all new recruits on doing their initial Infantry training - prior to being posted elsewhere - like Engineers - Rifle bde etc.......could be..... Cheers
Alderslade, Assuming that this relates to the query in your other post then I'd say that the photo is definitely not the same man. The Field Service cap was introduced with battledress in 1937 (but not universally available immediately, most units didn't receive it until late in 1939 or early 1940). It is obviously a winter photograph and probably no earlier than the winter of 1939 / 40 I see that John Blyth was 27 when he died and the man in the photograph is much younger than that. At a guess, I'd say that you need to look for a family member who was no older than 19 or 20 in 1940 to tie in the photograph.
