Good morning, I would like to visit the Vickers Wellington bomber usually exhibited at the Royal Air Force Museum in London, serial number MF628, Vickers Wellington X airplane pictures & aircraft photos - RAF Museums I read from this webpage, unfortunately, that this plane is "MBCC Cosford for refurbishment". I wrote to the Museum, but I still wait for their answer. Do you know if this plane will be there or in Cosford, from December 8th, 2011 to Dec. 11th, please? I know that there are only two Wellingtons still available for the public, I would be very interested to see this exemplar. Thank you all and have a nice day, Marco
Hi Marco, Did you try an email to Cosford re the link below Contact RAF Museum Cosford Thanks!, very good suggestion.
Hi, The Conservation Centre is not normally open to visitors or access given on request as it is a secure working area. They hold open days where public is admitted but you have just missed the Autumn/Winter 2011 one. It will probably be 3 to 6 months before the next opening. The attached piccy was taken a couple of weeks ago. Regards Ross
Accoording to the Hendon website it went away in July for at least 'several years': Until the aircraft has been completely stripped it is impossible to say how long our Wimpy will be away - certainly several years. Present planning will see the last parts leave the Hendon site on 1st July. You may no longer be able to see her at our London site but do remember the Museum runs ‘open’ weeks at its MBCC facility at Cosford. Regards, Marco
There's a Wellington at Brooklands if you want to see another one. Vickers 290 Wellington 1A N2980 (1939) - Brooklands Museum
Hi all and thank you indeed, You right. I have just receved an e-mail from Cosford. The plane won't be available for the public for several years, but they kindly proposed to participate to a workshop (from Monday 12 - Saturday 17 November 2012). I'll see with my friends for the other Wellington, in Surrey - but I think it would be quite too far from London. Very sorry. Anyway my brother actually lives in London, so probably I'll come back there again in the next years! Marco
