    Hi Drew5233,

I live close to Waddo and get a free view most years.

Also, if you hated helicopters you'll d have really HATED the Bristol Belvedere.

    Please see attached pic.

AS well as having the habit of catching fire during start up (Avpin).

You needed to climb a ladder to board it and if you did a "Hover Jump" it was done from between 6 - 8 feet altitude.

    Regards, Mick D.

Great pic....I should say it wasn't so much the helicopter itself but more the idiots who were driving them. It can't be that hard to steer in a straight line can it?

We were hoping to go this year but we are moving to my husbands new posting in July, so it will have to wait until next year. Quite annoying but I'll be knee deep in packing boxes.

Maybe it all depended on how much they'd had to drink the night before :)

I'm glad you liked the pic.

The future of next year's 2015 Waddington Air Show is in doubt due to a £35m rebuild of the runway.
The work, which is currently out to tender, will extend Waddington's 9,000ft runway by 528 ft and increase its operational life by 25 years.
Group Captain Richard Barrow said the work will not only create disruption for aircraft, but potential safety issues for the thousands of show spectators.

Taken on Sunday during the 2014 show. I had the honour of briefly meeting Drew. A great day out that went far too quickly.

    Aviation News of the week

It has been announced that Waddington Air Displays are to be cancelled in the interests of airfield security.

Scampton has been suggested as a future venue but if allowed, would not be able to host the venue until 2017.

Meanwhile the Vulcan Trust have indicated that before the certificate of airworthiness expires and the aircraft is grounded, there will be a similar tour as last year, to take place next month.
