I need some help identifying what exactly this could be. I'm currently staying at Wake Island for two weeks and picked up a pretty decent haul of goodies from the beach, including 30 cal rounds (possibly from the first day of ww2), a pocket knife, and Japanese boeys. This, though, I have no idea. The cylinder is ceramic, so the item was used as an electrical insulator. The flat portion is threaded but doesn't connect to metal. The top rounded part has 6 holes where copper wire was run through, and you can see in the one picture that some is still present. The serial number (CNPNS4W0316) turned up no results. There are multiple ww2 shipwrecks off the coast of wake island, and stuff is constantly washing up. It could also be trash from ongoing military presence on the island. Any ideas? Aircraft or ship parts?

From the first day of WW2. Really? From 1st September 1939?

This could be a wild good chase but if you search for "CNP trademark" one link suggests that it is a Trademark linked to the Japanese IHI corporation which in turn has a Wiki page here:

    IHI Corporation - Wikipedia

Which does make some sort of sense I think.

My bad, I should've specified the first day that the US was brought into the war. Considering wake and Pearl Harbor were attacked concurrently

    Welcome to the forum.

I don't know what that object is but maybe post war? I'd enjoy seeing the other things you found if you feel like posting them.
