Does anyone have a copy of the war diary for the 1st Batallion Middlessex regimentt for August 1944. I am trying tiinvestiigate an incident where two or may be three soldiiers lost their lives in the Forest surrounding Lyons La Forêt, Normandy, France. According to a local resistant she gave part of an RAF aircraft to a major Hall of the 1st Batallion of the Middlessex Regiment and I want to see if this regiment was linked to the incident in any way. The death took place on August 29th 1944 and I want to know if these guys were any near the area and if so was anyone hurt?
Looked up Middlesex Regiment on CWGC for those date (also few days either side) & there are no deaths recorded.
Thought it might be the case but for me I thought it would be interesting to find out when they were in the area. I was born in Middlessex in a place which is now part of London. *
Owen, do you have a copy of their diary for August 1944 through to May 1945? I want to find out when exactly they were in our area. I was born in the Middlesex area.
Has any one got any copies of the regimental diaries for the 1st Batallion Middlesex regiment from 1944 to December 1945? I know that they came around my local area and being from near Middlesex I am interested to find out when they came here. I know they did come here but do not know when.
