    QUOTE Ron Goldstein

Another minor adverse comment, although my complaint is leveled at all documentaries of this type.
Why don't they finish one story at a time, instead of jumping between the two so that we lose the thread ?

I agree Ron. It always annoys me.
It's bad enough having the adverts on three times in the hour, the programme loses its continuity. To keep you watching I suppose.

I'm not going to complain at all - these programmes have been very informative and enjoyable, and I think that the quality of expert knowledge on hand is remarkably high (ie Paul, Perry).

    Just a personal observation.

    - I guess with around 45 minutes to play with, this was felt to be too long for one person's story so two strands are included each week. Like Ron and others, I would prefer a continuous story line (and one of the commercial breaks could bring a natural conclusion to one strand). The inter mixing of story line also encourages (at least for me anyway) a subliminal tendency to contrast (and rate) each of the veterans' experiences. Clearly each story with its commemorative memory is one to be treasured and shared.

C5 should be commended for showing these programmes, and not to sensationalise (apart from the title) the subject matter. More please..

I've found them all rather good so far in their own individual way except the Paddy Ashdown, British Expeditionary Force one which is bar far the weakest of them all so far. Sadly it could have been so much more on all levels :(

I've only just discovered this series and watched all 4 episodes so far last night. Thoroughly enjoyed each one. I have to admit I got a bit of dust in my eye at the end of David Gower's story.

    Well done to all involved.

I really enjoyed last nights because it had a Kiwi connection... :D I really enjoyed the first one too... :D However the reason I am posting is that Steve Darlow has put on Facebook that next weeks one of the two is about Bomber Command. Apparently he and the family member got a chance to clamber in and out of the Halifax at the Yorkshire Air Museum - Lucky lad!!! So watch it next Tuesday and do Steve Darlow spotting LOL..;)

Glad to see that this is running in Australia now and we do not have to wait for the usual year or so.

I heard Chris Tarrant speaking about his father again (and the Normandy Landings generally) during the BBC's coverage of the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
