I'm looking for map's 1940-44 usa or german of the centre italy.More precisely, the northern part of orvieto called "Monte peglia" , or " Bosco dell'elmo".I also seek solemn news of the mountain, for I know that there were Germans there, but there is no documented information about it.

    Hello Giulio,

Below is a link to the map of the area you are interested in. It is part of a series produced in 1943 by by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. The sheet you need is 130.

    https://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/italy.html

According to the prisoners taken by 38 (Irish Brigade), 78 British Infantry Division on 19 June 1944, in the area to the south of Monte Giove and therefore in the area you are interested in, the German units present were 1 Fallschirmjäger Division and 334 Infantry Division, both of which were in in action on the Trasimene Line (opening battle 20 June). 1 Fallschirmjäger were holding Città della Pieve on 18 June and 334 Division were to the east of them.

What was it that you specifically wanted to know about Monte Peglia?

I would like to see aerial photos of scouts, of the mountain peglia, flat mountain and park of the seven friars. I know for sure that there was a German transmission department on top. The mountain has been bombed but the area with metallic residues is very wide and I thought for such a massive bombing maybe it was due to something else, maybe there was more than one German platoon. I have not found official news of the passage of Americans or Germans or a massive bombing only tales of local elders. Only official news are Nazi weather bulletins with regular cadence coming from that mountain, which now I can no longer find. I had read them from the official online site, berlin state archive. So what I'm looking for is all kinds of news on this mountain, better if they are aerial photos, scouts, etc. Thanks anyway for the answer.

P.S. Vedo from tuscany , volendo credo possiamo parlare anche italiano (credevo il sito fosse americano)

Si, anche in italiano. Le mandò un messaggio privato.

Abitavamo in Umbria al Lago Trasimeno fino a 15 mesi fa.

(For everyone else, I have just said that I can communicate with Giulio in Italian, that I will send him a private message, and that I lived not far from the area he is interested in until 15 months ago)

For anyone else following this thread, 334 Infanterie Division was stationed in the area between December '43 and the passage of the front in June '44. They may well have placed equipment on the mountain. I doubt however that there would be a reference to this in their war diary. What do you think?

As to fragments of metal left on the mountain, B-26 Marauder no.42-23276, 444 Squadron, 320 Bomb Group, USAAF was hit by flak and caught fire on 21 January 1944 and crashed somewhere near Monte Peglia, to be exact near Ficulle. http://320bg.org. I don't have a copy of the MACR.
