The possibility of bacterial life on Venus (or at least above in the atmosphere) has been raised with the discovery of a short lived gas produced on Earth in penguin's guts. Is there life floating in the clouds of Venus? Steady on chaps it'll be the Treens' doing next. Anybody remember the Treens and the Therons, the Mekon and Dan Dare?. The Mekon was the archetypal super villain - he always miraculously escaped certain death so as to pop up in another adventure.
