    Is it possible to determine an approximate date of award for a Military Medal published in the London Gazette on 13 Sept 1945?

    Hi Mark,

    I've no great insight on that question.

    I understand 3 months was the rule of thumb in WW1 but as this is a post cessation of hostilities award in the European Theatre I'm sure there might be further slippage. The answer may be in the WD if you can't trace the citation.

    You may get a clue re dates if you scroll through the other lists of Guards gallantry awards Diane (DBF) has posted in Regimental topics.

    It may not even be for a specific act of gallantry but for good work over a period.
