What colour Primer for Sherman?

    Ive no idea, was there US regulation M1 Primer as applied ot Shermans?

    Think I will have go at the salt technique.

    I reckon I'd go for a standard red-oxide Kev, I'd have to check 'the book' to be sure but it's the usual type applied during restorations, and they've normally done their research:

    (Though Bovington now uses some sort of high tech blue stuff that's supposed to be the latest thing.)

    Airbrushing or using spray cans? The salt thing's unlikely to work well with brushing and I'd check if it works with spray cans first.
