When was/is 'Tunisia Day'?

    I found a photo of my grandfather in uniform, and he had written 'taken on "Tunisia Day"' on the back of the picture, no year or other labelling.

    Does this refer to the 13th of May 1943? Most of his photos are undated.

    13 May was the day the fighting ended in Tunisia, so it maybe that the group all posed for a photo to celebrate their part in the victory and for want of better called it Tunisia day

    That's the thing, my grandfather never served in Africa during the war, he would have been in India when the Nazi forces in Africa surrendered (if that's what it was).

    I was wondering if it's some regimental think but couldn't find anything. google not much help. Ah well, just curious.

    Perhaps they had just got news of the ending of hostilities in Tunisia and the photo is a follow on, or it may have a link to a unit fighting in Tunisia
