In the late Sixties/early Seventies my school headmaster was one William (Bill) F. O'Carroll. He was an inspirational English teacher who lectured us on Wordsworth, Milton, Coleridge etc and, unlike many other teachers, told us little of himself.
Some years later I read, with great sadness, his obituary in a local paper which revealed, previously unknown to me, that he had been the author of a number of respected academic textbooks and that during the war he had been an RAF navigator in Bomber Command who had been instrumental in introducing new improved navigational techniques.
Does anyone have any further information?
    Tom.
