Before Za gets upset with me I've taken this subject from Geoff's Bargain thread and given it a new home.

So far, the top contenders put forward are:

    Battle of the Bulge
    Anzio
    Pearl Harbor

Guns of Navarone and Force 10 from Navarone
    Bridge at Remagen

I cringe when I see those movies listed

Guns of Navarone is a classic. - In my top 20 War Fiction

Force10 from Navarone I agree with.

Along with Anzio & Pearl Harbor.

    I agree with what has already been mentioned, and add the following;

    1. Carter's Army
    2. Inglorious Basterds
    3. The Battle of the Last Panzer
    4. Upon A Midnight Clear
    5. Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence
    6. Death Race

Sometimes you just have to wonder how much dope is really smoked in Hollywood when productions like these are released on the public.

Miracle at St. Ana.... except for the part where he whacked the guy in the post office, that was harsh.

Battle of the Bulge in my view has to be up there.

I wonder how much "better" some of these films would have been with all the CGI stuuf available nowadays?.

No CGI would improve any film with Telly Savalas in it :D

Battle of the Bulge must be the top in awfulness, and there are those crazy Koreans making a cult of it!!!

Anzio is a fine film. Well, it's a fine film if you have insomnia and want to go to sleep fast, nothing happens there  Of the same ilk you have Big Red One, there must be something about Italy, I guess.

The 60s/70s was a fine era for making movies, lots of them coming, some better than others. Today they're few and far between, and we get lemons like Pearl Harbor and Enemy at Gates.

U571 for me. Changing history, massive plot holes, cliched characters and mediocre acting with the more talented actors phoning in their performances.

Most of the above also applies to Pearl Harbor, but Cuba Gooding's cameo just saves it from last place in my list.

They are but I wouldnt be so quick to judge yet. Peter Jackson managed to pull off making Lord of the Rings into a fine set of films, he deserves a chance to see how he'll do with the Dambusters.

The Last Drop, Anzio, Enemy at the gates, AND Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor had such great potential of being turned into a good movie, but they really made a mess of it. It still makes me angry :P

Battle of the Bulge is truly awful. For another real stinker, check out Ships With Wings which has a poor script, a silly plot, bad acting and some jaw-dropping special effects. I particularly like the scene where the hero is trying to land his plane on a Greek island while under fire from archetypal Nazi thugs armed with pistols. He runs one of them down, uses the body to stop the plane on the spot and then leaps out to pick up the victim's gun to shoot the others. All in real time! The climax involving a panzer division, two planes and a dam is even better but I won't spoil the surprise for the curious.

    Battle of the Bulge
The Last Drop [Damn that Trailer is bad enough to warrant its inclusion here]
Mystery Title Film (The one someone asked critique on here for and was really, really bad.... with the Chinese made Airsoft 6mm Thompson et al)
    U571
    Pearl Harbour

I love The Battle of the Bulge. Reminds me of Sunday afternoon's when I was young with sunday dinners and sitting on the sofa afterwards with my Dad.

I even had 'I love my Panzer' as a ring tone on my mobile, as for Telly he's brill in it 'Whats thats? You wanted to see Germans? You're gunna see Germans' as was the 'MP's are Krauts' scene.

No accounting for a good taste :p
