Objective Burma, was a great box office draw in its day, but with the passing of the years and more high tech stunts and computer generated simulations then the films made during the war years and for quite a few years after the war now look rather amateurish, but in their day they were good box office.

If the movie were made today she would BE the fire control officer and the only capable office among the sexist, knuckle dragging men!
I stand corrected, but must add that she kisses her girlish-looking, metro-sexual boyfriend at the dock and then dies....so on and so forth.

Have to agree about the big Sunday afternoon films that were around when I was a kid. However bad their historically accurate content may be, they actually aroused my interest in all things WW2 from a very early age.

One of, if not THE worst film I have seen for a long while is The Fallen. I was actually conned into paying £3 for it from Tesco by a quote on the back saying it was better tha Saving Private Ryan!

    Yeah, right!

Conversely, one of the better films I have seen recently was Saints & Soldiers. A highly recommended watch for anyone who hasn't yet seen it.

Deacs Well i am from Cumbria.

Ages of Heroes - Directed and starred Sean Bean the true story of the formation of Ian Flemings 30 commando unit if this film is true it is a disgrace to the memory of the original Commandos and to Ian Flemming the directing and acting especially Danny Dyer is absoloutely horrendous.

I can't believe that no-one has included Passchendaele yet as a contender.
It has some good points but credibility...?

    Other awfuls..
U571, Mosquito Squadron, U571, The Fallen and U571

    Too Canadian :p

I think it was more disappointing rather than bad or historically inaccurate.
Too much mushy foo foo, not enough war scenes.

Expectations were too high, and I think there is much worse out there.
