book vf ww1.jpg WW1 RUINS of VILLERS FRANQUEUX taken from the Original Negatives from my collection.
Negatives / photos were taken in 1918-1919.
The village suffered extensive shelling during the war.
The names of the owners houses are on the photos.
I printed the photos into a hardback book from the negs .
I will be going to the village in Oct.

I have a original German map dated 19 May 1918 of the area around Villers Franqueux, Thil, Courcy, Hermonville, Loivre, Cauroy.
Does anyone know what the legend / symbols on the map are for. h, i, g4, l, f, o2, g2, w3, g, m, k, ect. , you can see some on the air photo, they might be gun batteries?

I have updated my ww1 photo book and it is now in colour. The photos are taken from my ww1 negatives and i used AI software to add the colour and a lot of work to make them look good. There are some old post cards i have made in colour, as well and some German air recon photos.

This officer is in some of the photos , has been ID as from the 114 th RI. 2nd Battalion in reserve at Villers Franqueux May 1917. I think he is the CO. Photos of Durand Jean Baptiste Raymond.
