I rather like this one i once took of Gerry, the other one's not bad either. Ron Original story here: http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/12714-a-historic-meeting-in-london/
Finally had the pleasure of meeting Rob (Ramacal) last Sunday after nearly 3 years chatting on Skype. He very kindly took the time to visit my hubby and myself at home, had a lovely chat. Thanks for coming Rob and for all your help since I joined the forum 3 years ago, much appreciated.
Excellent photograph of your Meeting. I have never personally met Robert, but we have communicated many times over the last few years and I consider him a good friend. Regards Tom
Thanks Lesley (4JonBoy), Tom (Smudger Jnr) & Ron (Ron Goldstein). I'm sure that one day Tom (Smudger Jnr), we will get to meet. I too, consider you a good friend. I bumped into Andy (Drew5233) at the NA last Thursday, met Gary (PegasusGary) at the Lincoln Archives (Many thanks for your help and it was great to meet at long last. Good luck with completing and publishing your book on the second Lincolns), Lesley (4Jonboy) and her hubby Steve of course and finally I had the usual cuppa and chat with Owen (Owen) on the way home. In between all this, I had the pleasure of going to RAF College Cranwell and staying there to see the Lord Wakefield RAF Novice Boxing Championship with my Brother and whilst he was busy officiating there, got to do some useful stuff and see people and go places.
Perhaps this is as good a time to point out that the "TOM" referred to in the above posting #267 by Ramacal is Tom "Smudger" Smith who lives in Berlin..and NOT the "Tom" Canning who lives in British Columbia…can be confusing at times… Cheers
Tom, I can never thank you enough for leading me onto this wonderful Forum from the BBC, plus all the help that you provided with my fathers records and I also consider you a friend although again, we have not met personally. It was also wonderful to learn that you were supporting my fathers Regiment. Yes Tom is a common Name and cit can be confusing sometimes on the Forum!!! Regards Tom
Pity you don't live nearer Tom; I am sure plenty of members would be round to see you for a cup of PG Tips  Lesley
Diane no such thing as a wee dram - unfortunately the distance is a chrusher as only TWO forum members have made it this far and that is Colin Hotham from Wiltshire and Randy Klein from Toronto - glad to see both as Evader from my old stamping ground of Highcliffe near Christchurch is also due to appear during a trip through the Rockies……now is the time to travel as the Canadian Dollar is way down low as the GBP is way high at $1:85 / L 1o - couldn't be better for me as it has added $40o to my pensions…enough to buy a few drams to share with anyone… Cheers
Regret that I haven't met anyone from the forum. Would love to meet Tom and Ron to name but a few. However with the South African Rand at almost R19.00 to the pound there is no chance unless I win the Lotto!!!!! Diane P.S.Have just won R16.00 on the Powerball--- won't even get me a cup of tea
DianeE Know the feeling as on the way back to London after a fantastic trip and safari at Shamwari - I too felt I should have won the lottery as the four days at the Mount Nelson in Cape Town - another four at Plattenberg- Port Elizabeth - Safari then Jo'berg made my wallet a bit obsolete…having said that the meals and rates at the Pink Lady were only half that I would pay in London or even the Chewton Glen at New Milton on the coast - a fantastic trip all around… Cheers
I was at Kew today, i'm sure others were also. Did you see the young'un on the copiers, copy one, send three text messages, copy another, wired for sound so change the song in his ears, click, another copy. I hope he understood what he was copying? My cattle prod was so required. Nice to see a few newbies as well. BTW, The Chewton Glenn is great. Nick KenFentonsWar.com
Nick, let me know next time you're heading to Kew. I'll get you a brew if I'm there on the same day! Lee
Did you hear me? click, click, click, click, click...... Tomtas and Andybaldeagle was there yesterday - Think I met half the forum there over the last ten days
