Had a really good chat with forum member Paul Cheall and Veteran Wilf Shaw yesterday in Manchester. 'twas lovely to meet you at last Paul (he's the good looking one) Lesley
Mind your own business you nosy b*ggers . Thanks for the birthday wishes guys (except Owen-last time I tell him my secrets, cheeky sod)
Dances with Beavers, also known to some of you as STOLPI, joined us this past week for a 5 day wilderness canoe trip. He is seen here perfecting his paddle stroke on a remote Canadian lake. He did pretty well for a rookie but was disappointed in not seeing a moose and ecstatic over not encountering a bear. He is winging back to Europe tomorrow armed with a new book on Canadian military history. He has truly gone over to the dark side.
For sure, had an interesting time over there in the Colonies !! ... hired some native porters - or Canadian aboriginals as they tend to call themselves nowadays ... ... they carry your canoe and packs through the wilderness.... .. paddle you across the lakes ... ...set up camp ... ... catch some fish for dinner ... ... dig a latrine (the Magic Box aka Thunderbox) ... ... and all that in return for some cheap 'firewater' and a handful of sweeties ... very convenient boys … and quite an expedition, great, it was, really.
We aren't nearly as friendly after we put skates on. Always better to come in the summer. For the record, Stolpi consumed most of the firewater!
