Nice collection of books Orwell, I don't feel I can show mine now, too paltry in comparison. :)

    My military collection to date:

Books by and about Second World War British and Commonwealth Generals & Politicians - the majority are superior-condition first editions in dust-jackets. (plus a smattering of RAF & Navy and a few paperbacks)

As most of my collection is remains contained in a large number of boxes, awaiting my completion of the basement re-model, you avid viewers will have to be content with my paltry single cabinet. I've included a few pics of the home office from which the brilliant WW2 Talk posts emanate. :)

I'm a relative newcomer to military book collecting - even had to buy a bookcase to house them ... room for a few more.

I wonder if you can tell what my main interest is? Mind you, the bottom shelf is full of fantastic reads. I started reading War books when I was in my late teens, mainly SOE and RAF - nowadays it's 'Combined Operations'.

It was back in its bubble-wrap after I took the photo. ;)

However, it will be read - it's in the queue.

    Very wise.

As for the commandos, I've been trying to get my hands on a copy of Mills-Roberts' Clash by Night in good nick for ages, but no joy at anything like a sensible price. That and Storm from the Sea by Peter Young have been on my list, but I want jacketed first editions!

I have a jacketed 1989 version of Strom from the Sea. I have a signed copy of something else but darned if I can find it at the moment. A pal in Oz was telling me that her husband only has 'good' books ... no dog-ears. I can't remember the last time I bought a new book for myself - I love it that others have read the books. My copy of the Green Beret is rather tatty and I've drawn in it ... I was only about 7, going off the artwork. ;)

I'll keep an eye out for the ones you've mentioned and will let you know if I find them.

Well, humbly, this is my small treasure, plus a 32GB pendrive (mirrored in servers at Kapustin Yar, Lop Nor and under the polar cap  ) stored safely in a shoebox inside a closet located on the wall across the room from this one, which holds the other 75% of me collection...

By the way, my heavy reliance on e-formats comes from living in a Third World country; it really is a pain in the a**e to deal with Customs and/or courier companies most of the times I want to import a book!

Can we not mention Idler's bookshelves any more.
Makes me feel a little bit sick.

Naahh, just meant to say that such a dream room has got to be the work of a gifted one!

P.S. V.P., this is the last one, promise

    Oh, go on then.
We are, after all, a pack of people who can legitimately say 'check this out!' about bookcases.

That vague feeling that you fancy buying some books, but have you possibly got enough on a given theme...
Bollocks. Of course you haven't 'enough'.
