Contemplating changing my ridiculous username, and decided not to as it still reminds me of the dangers of 'popping in for one post' in a reply to Sapper/Brian when I first joined. Anyone fancy explaining their Username if it's not your actual name? I've been 'Poop' on everything since consistently holding & reclaiming the High Score on Southsea's Space Harrier machine. The text entry method was a wheel - P & O are next to each other. That's it. Was a genuine surprise on the internet's emergence that Septics seem to find it so amusing. I'd always thought more of Mr Toad than the scatological implication. And, yeah, I'm sure there's another thread about this from years back, but I couldn't find it & a squillion people have joined since then.
Mine is my name. My Mum did contemplate calling me Octavius after an Uncle on the Welsh side of the family who was in WW1. Glad she didn't.
To get back to the original question, mine is a hangover from years spent on the Great War Forum and reflects my interest in the Battle of the Somme.
I have made it my life's work to raise indolence to an art form. Once, on a trip abroad whilst waiting in a hotel lobby for the rest of the tour group to assemble, I asked a fellow member of the group if she knew where the nearest letter box was. She said that it was about 12 feet away near the counter. As she was nearer the counter than I was, I asked her if she would mind posting my post card for me. She did, whilst uttering the never forgotten words, "you really are an idle tosser".
Mine is fairly self explanatory I think. I use it on a few forums, but WW2Talk is by far the busiest for me. I cannot remember where I found the avatar image. I also just noticed I have just passed by my tenth anniversary on here too. Time flies by.
AB64 from Army Book 64, the "Soldiers Service and Pay Book" - as I'm sure a few of my threads have shown, something I am obsessed with collecting
Mine is simply my initials: Dr Stephen D Pannell aka SDP My avatar is the cap badge of my late father's WW2 Regiment 24th Lancers. I also occasionally use a 'Comet tank' avatar because that's what dad was Driver of in 1945. 'Incurable Cometoholic' strap line reflects my hobby - researching dad's Comet T335335 aka Celerity (at least when he drove it).
Now I'll upset you - apologies - but for ages I thought your avatar was a cleavage!!! I don't have an avatar as not got round to it - too busy reading threads and my Username is a mistake it actually comes from Tim (my name) UK (as I'm in UK) but I pushed the wrong button when I initially joined. Tim
Long term interest in the man, associated loonies, & their obsessions. I am that irritating twerp that says 'ow as in crow, not cow!' a tad too keenly.
That says more about you than it does me, but I doubt you're alone. Much as I'd like to claim credit for the artistry, it was one of those silly little things you find on the internet and put to one side for the day it might come in useful.
