Marketing yield......talking to my son this morning he tells me he ordered fuel oil before the adverse weather and paid an extra £60 for a priority order.....two days ago received an e mail which stated that they could not deliver as promised.

He tells me will be requesting the return of the priority charge

At 3pm today, to my utter astonishment, my boiler decided to fire up again after I had I switched it off and on for the umpteenth time. !

Glory hallelujah, I thought, and within moments my house gradually started to regain it's warmth.

My joy, however was short-lived, as within ten minutes my cold water mains refused to supply it's life saving function and dribbled to a halt.

The internet soon established that Affinity, my water supplier, was having trouble in my particular area, and that I should not bother to contact them further as they were "dealing with the matter".

Before I could inform my long suffering daughter of my new problem there was a ring at the door and a near-neighbour stood there with 4 huge bottles of water.

Isn't it great to find that there are still some lovely people out there ? :-P:-P:-P:-P:-P:-P

    Ron,
You cannot beat having good neighbours that all pull together when there is a problem.
Nice to hear that your family are really looking after you as well as your neighbours.
    Keep safe and warm.
    Regards
    Tom

Oh for the days when someone would drop a message in your door saying "We are about to switch off your water but are setting up a standpipe at xxxxxxx.

Is that asking too much !

I see that the water companies are "helping the vulnerable"
"In south-east England, suppliers say they have been identifying vulnerable customers and providing them with bottled water".

I wish I could say that the authorities in Cockfosters were doing the same !
