Newspaper used to line the bottom of a metal trunk.

    Bear with me on this one. I purchased an old metal trunk at a local auction and this tired, faded and torn newspaper was at the bottom, having been used to line it.

    OK to nick this to repost on a Para Reg FB page attributed to you ?
    Trying to work out which Battalions/Regiments they served with
    Sgt Gee would appear to be Artillery 2nd lift.
    Pte Cannon Parachute Regiment report says 2nd Op. Jump one near Paris ( D Day?) and Arnhem
    Watts Sicily and Arnhem
    Pte Corley Parachute Regiment .Missing I wonder if he survived.
    Troopers Bates and Sam Recce Regiment.
    Craftsman Moulster REME
    Sig Jack Cannon Signals?

    That's a lot of Airborne from one area.

    Yes, please repost it and please mention the source.

    I looked for Sgt Horace Gee in the Royal Artillery Attestation but it only goes up to 1942 and he enlisted in 1943.

    From RA Attestation 903855 Charles Richard Vine.

    From casualty lists:
    List 889 dated 30 July 1942, Middle East/Cyrenaica/Missing, Hy. A.A. Regt 135 Z Bty, date of casualty 20.6.42.

    then, List 940 dated 28 Sept 1942, reported POW, previously missing, regiment given as 277/68 Hy AA.

    then, List 1302 dated 27 Nov 1943, reported POW in Italian hands now in neutral country.

    POW details: Camp: 70, RO No: 43

    He is also mentioned in WO 32/9895 "Treatment of British POWs who escaped to Switzerland 1941-46"

    Reg Corley survived the war and died in 1999. He was a Bren Gunner with No 10 Platoon C Coy 156 Para
