Not sure I've seen something that as clearly sets out the Regimental areas, got lucky with this as its in a 1945 manual
That's useful and fascinating as well. I see that the map shows no regimental breakdown or Lancashire. Is a breakdown shown on a smaller map, or was it just catch-as-catch can for the regiments based in that county?
No further breakdown, I was surprised how many were crammed in there. I was surprised that Cameronians and HLI are shared as my understanding is HLI are more the Glasgow side and Cameronians Lanarkshire
I've been reading about the second Chindits operation, which 1st Cameronians were part of. They definitely had quite a few Glasga boys, all apparently tough eggs.
And quite a few Lanarkshire lads in the HLI including my Great Uncle in WW1 - the HLI itself is a bit odd as their area wasn't the Highlands - the Central Belt Light Infantry isn't quite as catchy
No sign on the map of the Royal Fusiliers, Rifle Brigade or KRRC. There must have been a separate map for London. F
No separate map for London, when I was looking I was assuming the next page would have London and Lancashire broken down but nothing - do RF, RB, KRRC have different recruiting areas in London?
Many many boys from Glasgow TTH. When the 13th King’s arrived in India in January 1942, they inherited the Cameronians barracks at Secunderabad. As the Scousers came in and the Jocks vacated plenty was said from both sides I can tell you.
