I am told by the Royal Green Jackets (Rifles) Museum, that all their printed material, including photos, has been moved to and is now held at the Hampshire Record Office. I suppose all might be part of this record: https://calm.hants.gov.uk/Record.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog&id=A12170 .

For my website Home - 8th Rifle Brigade I would love to search the archive for items such as group photos (like those in Group photos - 8th Rifle Brigade and the one attached) or personal records from 8RB veterans. Problem is, I live in Holland.

Is there anyone here that would like to help to search these archives to find and copy these items? I expect this will involve visiting the actual archives, so living near Winchester might be convenient. I could of course do some preparatory work myself, through internet!

Wow! 40 in that platoon Don't think that any platoon I commanded ever had that many - and there wasn't much of a war on then.

13 Platoon was a Scout platoon. They used Bren carriers and these platoons had a 1st and 2nd Lieutenant. Motor Platoons had a little over 30 members and one Lieutenant. To get back to the topic: living near Winchester? ;)
