    Hi,

I’m trying to discover more about my Father’s time he served in Burma between March 1944 and September 1945. I have a copy of his service records. He trained as a Turner and was posted with the R.E.M.E attached to the 67th Heavy A.A. Regiment R.A. (York’s & Lancs) (TA) I believe. I know he also served with 551 Indian Infantry from September 1945. He was promoted to war sergeant at this time. I have his war medals that he was awarded - Burma Star and 2 others.

I am hoping to find out what his role would have been during the Battle of Imphal and the recapture of Burma and whether anyone has already researched the war diaries for his Regiment at this time?
I have some photos of him taken during various locations in Burma too.

Hope someone maybe able to point me in the right direction?

    Thanks

    Jan

Thank you. I think I saw some of this on TV a little while ago now. I looked for my Father on there, but sadly, he wasn’t mentioned. Thanks anyway.

    Hi Jan,

It would be great to see some of the photographs you mention, you never know, they might give a clue as to whereabouts your father served in India and Burma. :)

I think some were taken at Mandalay, Imphal and Rangoon.

Image No. 7 is interesting as their seem to be some Japanese soldiers present in the photograph.

Yes, Image No.7, is interesting. Not only Japanese in the photo, but a mixture of other faces. None look like POWs, fit mainly young men.
