Any info ? plus trying to source a death cert not having much luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction please ?
Sue If you are after a death certificate to use when applying for his service records you already have all the MOD need and thats the certificate from his CWGC record TD
Hi Its not for the army record its in the hope it confirms who registered the death. Long story ! but now you’ve mentioned it how do I obtain his service record please ? thank you Sue
I also found this info on find my past but cannot find it on the GRO. I have emailed them to query though. Thank you Is there a way of finding out what happened on the day of his death 22 May 1940. Think Dunkirk
Will not appear if you use the Online search at the GRO as these registers have not been digitized. However you can order just like any other. Tick the box for Overseas - Consulate etc, you will be presented with a much simpler entry form 1940 for year then in Reference type "Army Overseas Vol 1 Page 375" Thats all - the human system retrieves and processes. One word of caution the entries are extreme in brevity. Ross
link for service record £30 and a bit of a wait due to current circumstances Have a read through the link Get a copy of military service records Have a look at this thread for your interest it does not answer your query but a forum member is a an expert on this part of the conflict I have sent a private message to them and I am sure they could give advice on the rest of the war diary 2nd Bn The Buffs, 15 May 1940 regards Clive
Given the mixture of units in the small CWGC section of the cemetery, it was always likely that the casualties were burials from a field hospital or Casualty Clearing Station, possibly after capture.
They are available online (subscription) but they are just lists and do not contain any further information.
