Hello all, Herbert's father was a war hero and is a part of my family story that I am desperately trying to learn more of. If anyone could shed some light on this man I would be very appreciative. Thank you.

Request records of deceased service personnel The MOD states that it's currently taking about 12 months to process requests. As a result many members are sending undated cheques, in order to keep their place in the queue. See Service Records application - MOD response timescale Good luck with the research.
If your subject joined the Army in 1941 I doubt his Service Number would denote Royal Field Artillery as they were merged into the Royal Artillery in 1924. Citing: From: Royal Field Artillery - Wikipedia and Royal Garrison Artillery - Wikipedia

Interestingly I have been researching Lt-Colonel Mike Hunt's motor racing interests in Malaya, where he was based between 1963 and November 1964. He was active in the motor club and raced an XK140 FHC Jaguar, a Mini Cooper and a T51 Cooper single-seater. He remarried c.1950/51 - Jane Notley and had two children by her - Elizabeth (in 1952) and Jonathan Michael (in 1953). I've been trying to reach either as there is very little information on Col. Hunt's racing and his role in the Royal Artillery in Malaya. Eli Solomon, Singapore
Hi Eli, Do you mean Herbert and not Mike? I'm nearly sure we are talking about the same man. Especially considering the marriage to a Jane Notley. I should also say there is a coincidence in your info regarding his daughter and his mother's name was also Elizabeth. Have you found any success in reaching his children?
He was always entered as Mike Hunt, hence the difficulty in tracing his military history /family. Look up the real estate company Foxtons. I haven't had any success reaching the family.
Hi Eli, Yes have found his son The bottom of the page mentions he was born into a military family with his father being a colonel, he passed basic training for the Royal Artillery, same as Herbert.
Exactly. Still, he was reasonably successful racing in Malaya and one of his formula 2 cars was recently found and restored by a friend of mine. Let's keep in touch, I hv an article that features Col. Hunt's racing that will be uploaded on my website soon. Eli
Hi Eli, Amazing coincidence would love to see a photo of it at some stage. Have read Mr. Hunt likes to collect cars, may be of interest to him. Yes looking forward to your article.
