      If my translating is about right then the ground area of the pens was approx. 39,000m2 and the amount of concrete was approx. 480,000m3
      It was built by the Todt organisation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organisation_Todt) and used labour from all over Europe. It is also interesting to read that they revised their construction during the war to take account of developments in the Allied bombs ie from 5000lbs all the way up to 'Tallboys'
