Stalag IVB - POW

I am standing on the main road of the prison camp Stalag IVB in Germany where my grandfather was a prisoner for 2 years. In my hand is his identity photograph that was taken when he arrived at the camp. His head was shaved to control the lice, he is wearing British uniform that the Red Cross provided and he was given the prison number of 224940. It was a special moment to be there and to walk on the soil where he and thousands of other men lived as prisoners. He was liberated by the Red Army in 1945.
