Wondering if anyone can identify the marking on the bottom of this gas respirator bag I have had for many years.

I suspect it is an Australian made one as I found it locally. The 3/5 RI looks to have been there a long time.

    Any thoughts?

I don't think Australian made as Australian items usually had the DD (Defence Department) stamp with the broad arrow

That arrow would indicate a British Government military item but it looks as it is not an official imprint.

The arrow does look a bit lopsided but I think that's just the photo, plus you do get some rough stamps. The Arrow is the War Department approval sign, but you do get the variants for other countries, India has an I usually underneath, Canada wraps a C round it, South Africa contains it in a U (for Union of South Africa I guess), New Zealand has it between NZ & Australia has it between DD

Thanks. That opens it up a bit. There are no other markings on it.
