At the risk of sounding stupid, can someone please explain why it states "Autul (Corporal)" as Rank. Why Autul?
I would guess it is an aboriginal word for the equivalent ranking of a person Cannot find anything as yet in aboriginal searches, but if any of our Oz members read this thread they may be able to help out TD edited to add: Just found this - An Introduction to Historical Linguistics apparently it means 3 in Tolai dialect of PNG so perhaps he was a Sargeant instead of a Corporal ??
