On this ANZAC Day. Alexander William Findlay, first cousin three times removed. He was captured by the Japanese after the fall of Singapore on 15th February 1942. He was sent to work on the infamous Burma-Thai Railway where he died along with over 2,800 Australian POWs. All in all around 90,000 Asian labourers and 16,000 Allied prisoners died building the railway. Alexander was buried in Kanchanaburi, Thailand far from Inverurie where he was born. Casualty
No idea yet. His wife lived on until at least 1980 where the electoral roll has her listed as being in a nursing home. She never changed her name so I guess she never remarried. I've applied to the Australian National Archives for his service record and paybook which might list any children they might've had.
