    Sub-Lieutenant (Observer) Gordon Vernon McMORRAN R.N.V.R. 811 Naval Air Squadron, Fleet Air Arm

    22nd January 1923 Newton Abbott, Devon - September 1998 Ipswich, Suffolk aged 76

    H.M.S. Biter (D97) was part of the Escort Support Group 5 protecting the Convoy SC 129.
    On the 15th May 1943 the Swordfish in which Sub-Lt (Obs) McMorran was flying detected a U-boat on the surface and attacked with two bombs, McMorran was wounded by return fire from the U-boat.
