Hello I'm currently researching Bf109E 2029, which i believe crashed at Pilgrims Way, Wrotham Hill on 11th September 1940. The pilot was Uffz Hechmaier. I only know these basic facts at the moment and any further information would be great, especially looking for a picture of the pilot. P.s Would like to know which group excavated the crash site if possible. Hope this isn't too much too ask and thanks for looking best wishes to all

Does anyone know where Albert Hechmaier is buried? it has been reported that he was Buried in Wrotham (St George) Churchyard, but a search of the Commonwealth War Grave Commission web site does not have him listed.
Hi Pete, Had a quick Google and found this link: Albert Heckmaier (unknown-1940) - Find A Grave... The link states:- An Unteroffizier and Flugzeugführer with 3 Staffel Lehrgeschwader 2, he died when is aircraft (Bf109E-7; wn:2029) was attacked by a fighter and crashed at Pilgrims Way, Wrotham. He was 27 years old. His body appears to have been been exhumed from this cemetery after the war and presumably was repatriated as it was not re-interred at Cannock Chase German Military Cemetery. Find A Grave contributor Steve Rob has reported that he was reburied at Oberhaindlfing, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Following on from this the likely location burial location would seem to be at St.Jakobus der Ältere church, address as follows: St. Jakobus der Ältere Oberhaindlfing Hochstraße 14 85395 Wolfersdorf Deutschland You could probably find an email address for the above, or write to them for confirmation. Hope this of use, John PS: There seems to be a lot of variation on the spelling of his surname but Heckmaier seems to be correct. Kracker Luftwaffe Archive
