Trying to track Sgt Robert Beech, posted in Styria, Austria.
I don't have much info, born 1910. So can't ask for his military record.
    Can anyone help me please...thanks

The Battalion only became the Royal Hampshire Regiment sometime in 1946, although so far the date is elusive. Even missing on their website! https://www.royalhampshireregiment.org/

The 2nd Battalion was a 'regular' Army unit and Wiki does confirm they moved to Austria, then the border region Styria. The unit was probably involved in the forcible handover of Cossacks and Germans to the Soviet Army in 1946. See as a pointer: Operation Keelhaul - Wikipedia

The CWGC records show the battalion had a few death in Austria in January-August 1947, and four in 1946.

    I have the regimental history.
I can tell you where the Bn was but nothing about the man.

Thank you, any history of the regiment would be appreciated. How do I get this?
(I have been found to be a DNA match to an Austrian lady whose grandmother was born to a British soldier. A Sgt in the 2nd bn. He is recorded as being the father, and I am trying to research where he was stationed, Neustidt I think)

Thank you so much, I will digest this. I am so caught up in military history. Have relatives served in Malaya, Egypt, Operation Torch and find learning about it all so interesting, poignant and thankful for their service.
