The Tripoli War Cemetery contains the graves of 34 men from Royal Engineers, 1000 Docks Maintenance Company who died on 2 March 1943. Although there are a few other casualties in the cemetery on that day, they are general from differing units.
What was the event that took so many lives from one unit.

    Thanks
    Martyn

Found this on a disc that Paul Reed gave me years ago. Hope it helps.
Bomb hit the company billet during an air raid , they were still burying them on the 5th.

Thank you for this information. My great uncle was one of the men who sadly lost their lives that day. He was only 24 years old. We never knew as a family how he died until now.

Thank you for the War Diary report. I am researching all the names on the Second World war Memorial in my church, St. Mary the Virgin, Corringham, Essex, and Ralph Wilson, whose name is on the memorial. was killed at Tripoli on 2nd March 1943 in the air raid.

So possibly there is one more fatality, but not RE or perhaps unidentified RE commemorated on a memorial? There are other casualties for different regiments, on same date, also buried in same cemetery.

    5th March, another funeral
Even more confusing... simply 4 of the 13 referred to above? Or a further 4 found after the 13 already noted?
