My grandfather served in the 11 Inf Brigade workshop company, recovery section. I have obtained a Movietone News clip of him receiving the MM from Gen Anderson on 14 Jan 1943 at Farme Fabre in North Africa. Can anyone suggest here I can get more information on the reason for his military medal Thanks
Citation likely to be online (£3.50) at the National Archives, or, if you share his name, you may find someone here can supply more info. British military gallantry medals - The National Archives
I have managed to get the citation for leadership & devotion to duty over a period of days but is seems to be rather generic
Medal awards were not necessarily given for a specific, individual act of gallantry, perhaps that was the case here but that of course doesn't mean it was any less deserved. Some medals were also awarded in, for example, in the New Years Honours.
