Hello I am seeking information regarding Sgt Arthur Bamford 13041393 Pioneer Corps He was killed on the 7 January, 1941 in London Five other men of the Pioneer corps were killed on this date serving with 130, 132 and 137 Coys Any information relating to these deaths would be most welcome. Thanks Regards Ron Casualty Details | CWGC
You don't say who the other 5 were, there are 8 on CWGC who died 7/1/41 and are commemorated in the UK, are you discounting 2 of them? James Jonathan Birtles, 13028969, and William Arthur Duffy, 13041454, were killed through enemy action according to newspaper reports. This is possibly Arthur's death registration, a death certificate should give cause of death. First name(s) ARTHUR Last name BAMFORD Gender Male Birth year 1906 Age 35 Death quarter 1 Death year 1941 District Pancras County London Volume 1B Page 137 Country England Record set England & Wales Deaths 1837-2007
Hello Again Any ideas what his medal entitlement might be ? I think he would be entitled to the 1939-45 Star and War Medal, but would he also get the Defence Medal ? Was London classed as an Operational Area due to Enemy Air Raids ? Thanks Regards Ron
