Please if possible could somebody point me in the direction of where I can find information of where this unit served in June 1944.
My cousin has his Dads service records but the month of June for the unit is missing apart from the fact that they came ashore on June 8 th.
    Thank you

    Hi,

According to the war diary (WO177/854) they disembarked in Normandy on 10 June 1944, first being located at Amblie before moving to Reviers on 17 June and Norrey-en-Bessin on 26 June. They were under command of 4th Armoured Brigade which was held in reserve in the British sector during June, although elements did take part in the latter stages of Operation Epsom (and 14 Light Field Amb moved to Cheux for a couple of days at the end of June in support) before returning to Norrey.

    I hope that helps.

    Regards

    Tom

Thank you Tom that is excellent and fits in exactly with where my Uncle Sid was at Norrey en Bessin at the beginning of July.
Weird coincidence that he was at Cheux which is where his nephew who was killed on 28 thJune is buried in the cemetery at Saint Manvieu
I live 40minutes down the N13 from Caen and have been helping my cousin trace his Dads route
Thank you so much for your help it’s very much appreciated.

Not sure if he was in North Africa in 1942 either?? But I have my Grandads was diary from 1942 and describes the Battle of El Alamein. And a list of soldiers he buried.
